Lost Dutchman State Park

Lost Dutchman State Park is located just a few miles east of Phoenix. The major feature of the park is the Superstition Mountains which rise up from the surrounding hills.

The cactus were just beginning to bloom and as you can see the wild flowers were blooming like crazy. This area is basically a sonoran desert type ecosystem dominated by various types of cactus including the saguaro with its distinctive upraised arms.

We were fortunate to find so many wildflowers in bloom during our visit. The combination of sun and heat reflected from the ground made the temperature feel like it was over 100.

Karen keeps the sun out of her eyes.
